SATELLITE ISLAND WITH KARA ROSENLUND

Happy pictures for a rainy UK weekend, we are off to Satellite Island with Kara Rosenlund. My inbox pinged with exciting news yesterday, one of my favourite photographers Kara Rosenlund got in touch to say she had been on a trip back to Satellite Island, a rugged and remote island which lies unspoilt off the southern Tasmanian mainland.

The first time I saw this beautiful spot was in Kara’s book – ‘Shelter – How Australians Live‘. My all-time favourite country interiors book ever. In Shelter, Kara was invited by Kate to visit and stay on this very special Island and shot her first photographs. Now back on Satellite Kara is sharing more of the magic to be found there.

On the island, the main house is named the ‘Summer house’ and there is a smaller abode called the ‘Boathouse’, where you can sleep above the lapping waves. Guests can rent this whole private landscape and the island is very self-sufficient (luckily as there are no shops to duck into for supplies or any other distractions).

Kara kindly shared these wonderful pictures here with me and has also created a stunning collection of atmospheric prints celebrating her trip.

Shells and seaweed never looked so beautiful!
