WILD BEAUTY – CELEBRATING BRITISH FLOWER WEEK

To make the absolute most of all the beautiful flowers that can be grown here in the UK, British Flower Club membership subscribers will be sent a pretty bunch of freshly picked mixed flowers from TRFC’s flower farm throughout the summer.

We work from home most of the time and don’t leave the compound too often, so this idea is almost as good as running wild in flowers for me. I am proudly promoting this idea (for flowers, not money) as we can grow so many amazing and unusual things here in the UK and these bunches have a beautiful wild and homegrown feel. Perfect for bringing that freshly picked feeling to a room, especially if you don’t own a garden yourself. Even though I do grow my own flowers here (some specifically for cut flowers) I hate to pick too many from the garden, and it’s so nice to have an abundance of flowers inside and out.

This posey had a gorgeous minty scent from the fluffy sprigs of apple mint, with pink stars of wild rose and my favourites – astrantia in two colours. I love to hang astrantia up to dry out after all other flowers have faded from a posey and put in little vases without water or hang them on cupboard handles over the months to come. As you can see I split this lovely lot up into gangs and filled four vases – one for each room.

Flower-loving folks can choose three, six or ten weekly bunches of the very best sustainable English wild and meadow flowers, herbs and seasonal foliage freshly picked from TRFC’s sustainable Hampshire flower fields and even more good news – their wildlife and bee friendly, sustainable farming practices have also earned the farm LEAF accreditation, hooray!

Now, if you need me, you’ll find me out back rearranging these over and over, as things fade. Oooh and at bloody last – I’ll be back tomorrow with the long-awaited bathroom reveal. Sorry, it has literally taken an AGE! xxx
