After meeting online through our businesses a couple of years ago and a shared love of all things green and growing, the lovely folk from Rhino caught a glimpse of the salvaged (and a little leaky but adored) greenhouse that we managed to build during lockdown last spring and discovered that we had plans to grow a new cottage garden.
A collaboration was hatched and a challenge to see what magic could be created from our unused lawn and what was our temporary veg plot. So this March the Rhino team came in and built us this beautiful new greenhouse in Silver Sage to grow on our seedlings and be a home for all our delicate plant babies. We are so grateful, happy and beyond excited to at last share some before and up-to-date photos.
So the plan is – we are going to plant a cottage-style fruit, flower and herb garden only a few feet away from our back door. I am so excited to spend 2021 growing on this plot and filling the glasshouse with all things wild and wonderful.
So far we have been battling cold nights, torrential downpours, high winds, mischievous squirrels and naughty cats digging things out – but they will not beat us. But we have managed to plant two blueberry plants, throw up the sweet pea frame (although the peas are still very small), woodchip the paths around the new beds and greenhouse, get some strawberries in the ground and plant some salvias out by the roses.
So much to do and the days are flying by in a blur, but I hope to share at the end of each month how the new outdoor space looks and what is growing and filling the greenhouse.
Here’s to new beginnings and some more pics!
